Well maybe I should explain the title

I may change the name of this blog eventually, but it’s as good a place as any to post some half written PALGN articles I have lying around. They weren’t really good enough for the site, but I may post them here over the next few days.

I’ve been thinking about some of the serious problems that I have with video games. In my opinion, many games are stuck in 1986 in terms of design, with a simple coat of paint (cutscenes, 3D graphics etc) slapped over the top. We have learnt to ignore stuff that should really annoy us, and these things are keeping others from enjoying games for the first time. The absolute number 1 example is random battles in RPGs, but there are many others.

EDIT: Actually, I’m still going to complete them as full articles.
